The family of a Miami resident who was killed this month in a plane crash in Sao Paulo has sued Brazilian airline TAM, the first of several lawsuits expected after the worst aviation disaster in Brazil’s history.

Northshore Mining Co. wants to reopen a 30-year-old court case that set important precedents in environmental law. The court ruling set up restrictions on the former Reserve Mining Co. Northshore Mining now owns the Reserve mine, and Northshore says it can't live with the restrictions.

Internationally-recognized aviation attorneys Steven C. Marks and Ricardo M. Martinez-Cid have filed a lawsuit on behalf of the family of 35-year-old Ricardo Tazoe of Miami who was among the 199 people killed on July 17 when TAM Airlines Flight 3054 slid off the runway at Congonhas Airport and slammed into an air cargo building in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
