The widow of a man fatally beaten two years ago outside a Moose Lodge in Independence has filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against the lodge and its employees. The lawsuit, filed this week in Jackson County Circuit Court, alleges that the employees failed to take action to prevent or stop the attack on Leonard Joe Smith outside the lodge at 2537 Blue Ridge Blvd.
