Legal thriller writer John Grisham has been named in a libel lawsuit filed over a nonfiction book he wrote about the 1982 murder of Debbie Sue Carter in Ada, Oklahoma.

A pre-Civil War courthouse along the Ohio River in northern Kentucky is getting a long overdue facelift. The Gallatin County courthouse, remodeled once in the 1930s by the New Deal's Works Progress Administration, is undergoing a $3.2-million renovation and expansion. The case was brought by 10 former miners against the Anglo American Corporation in the Johannesburg High Court in August 2004. No date has yet been set for the trial.
