A discrimination lawsuit against Bankers Life and Casualty Company goes to trial next month. Doug Smith from Mount Vernon filed the lawsuit in 2005. Smith says his employer violated the Federal Age Discrimination in Employment Act.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Vanguard Group, the nation’s second-largest mutual fund company, will pay $500,000 to settle a federal lawsuit. The suit alleged that management of the Valley Forge-based company retaliated against a black employee who complained of race discrimination.
