The Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Department was named as a defendant in a lawsuit filed May 8 by Valeria Saldivar and Rebecca Martinez, as next friend of Marissa Martinez. The suit concerns a Sept. 19 accident involving the plaintiffs and JWC Sheriff’s Deputy Brandon Torres.
